I'm tired and this is rather scattered but I mostly wanted to get some photos posted. The text is just meant to be descriptive and not insightful :)

Today, I rode up a funicular. I did this because our son lives and breathes trains and I just taught him about funiculars last week. I'm going to bring home pictures and short videos of a real one to show to him. Curt wanted to go but he gets vertigo with things like this, which would have ruined a few days for him so he walked along the lake shore while I went up Mount Como in the funicular. The idea of a funicular is that the weight of one tram car moving down helps move the other up the inclined plane (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Funicular).

I absolutely love my camera. It is a Canon G7 Powershot. I almost got a digital SLR but didn't think I'd use it as much because I would end up not carrying it around because of its bulk. So I went with the G7 _and_ read the manual and it's a marriage made in heaven. Camera software keeps getting better and better, too. I now no longer have to manually stitch my images together to make a panoramic shot. Okay, so I'm going overboard with the panoramic shots but it is just because I can...
This is the view we had while eating lunch yesterday:

Later today, while heading toward Bellagio, Italy (north of Milan, on Lake Como) we happened upon an arts and crap fair. That was mighty satisfying - who knew you could make so many different plants and animals out of seed beads? We actually had stopped to get a photo of a beautiful view of the mountains and lake and after we got all there was to get out of the fair, we wandered over to the viewpoint to take some photos.
And then we went into this little church:
And of course, what do you find in chapels but bicycles mounted on the walls...

Is it possible the church is to honor people that died on their bicycles?
